Transparency note

Free-tier limits and legal terms change. SiteVoom has not benchmarked each platform; check provider terms before commercial use.

First decide whether you need editing or deployment

A beginner who needs a website without coding may benefit from a hosted drag-and-drop website builder. A developer with a static HTML, React or framework project may instead prefer deployment from GitHub through Cloudflare Pages or Vercel. Treat those as different product categories, not identical entries in a leaderboard.

Free visual website builders

Some platforms offer limited no-cost website publishing, often on a provider subdomain and with restrictions on storage, integrations, branding, or adding a custom domain. Wix is one service to evaluate for visual editing. Verify current free-tier terms, payment functionality and business requirements directly rather than assuming free always means production-ready.

Cloudflare Pages for static sites

Cloudflare Pages can deploy static assets and Git-based builds. It suits users comfortable with source code or exporting a supported static site. Dynamic backend features may use Pages Functions, Workers or additional services with their own limits and billing rules. Examine the current Pages docs and free request limits.

Vercel for developer projects

Vercel supports framework deployments. Its Hobby plan is limited to personal and non-commercial use by its published terms; commercial projects need an eligible paid plan. Before deploying a revenue-oriented business site, review current terms, build/runtime limits and expected usage.

Why a free domain is not the same as free hosting

A provider subdomain, temporary free domain promotion, domain registration and annual domain renewal are different costs. Check ownership and transfer rights for a purchased custom domain. Include email, SSL, backups, limits and support in your decision.

A decision checklist before choosing

Write down commercial vs personal intent, your coding comfort, custom domain needs, where data lives, content editing workflow, whether a backend is required, traffic expectations and upgrade path. Compare these with provider restrictions. For businesses, consistent control and support may outweigh a nominal free entry price.
