Registrar and website host are different
You can register your domain with Namecheap or GoDaddy and host your website elsewhere. DNS configuration controls where the site and mail point. Compare domain renewal and transfer costs separately from website-builder subscriptions.
Protect the ability to transfer
Record registrar login ownership, registrant contact recovery, renewal notifications, auto-renew settings and any lock or transfer policy. Check the relevant registry and registrar terms before initiating changes.
DNS and email need a migration checklist
Before changing nameservers, capture existing A, CNAME, TXT and MX records and any SPF, DKIM and DMARC requirements. Updating the website must not accidentally interrupt business email.
Use a 3-year domain cost table
Record initial registration, second- and third-year renewal, privacy services, DNS and mail costs by exact domain extension. Different TLDs can have dramatically different rules; a generic from-price is not useful.
Make a safe choice
Test account controls and two-factor security, look up how DNS edits are performed, and confirm what happens when you transfer. We do not claim first-hand registrar support or billing tests.
